Legal Question in Health Care Law in New York

I was at the emergency room of the local hospital on tues'2/16/2010 for atriel fibrillation {AFIB} which is a heart ailment that can cause heart failure or stroke,, I got there at 6:00am I was brought into the ER and they hooked me up to a heart monitor,, they diagnosed me with AFIB then they left me and my wife alone in the room I was not treated for nearly 2 hours!! I was at the emergency room for nearly 10 hours however I was never seen or treated by a cardiologist,, Is this ok or is there some legal action I should take this ailment could have possibly killed me do I have a case against the hospital or the emergency room where I was treated,,, I cannot afford an attorney at this time so if you please any help will be greatly appreciated

This is not unusual and there does not appear to be a claim for any medical injury. If on the other hand you are claiming that you have been injured (medical malpractice) then you have a claim. You do not, however, have a claim for loss of time in waiting for treatment where there is no physical injury.
