i am a us citizen i filed i 130 for my wife the receipt date is sep 25 2006. i want to know how long it will take to get approved?

It depends on alot of factors as to how long the approval process takes. Often times, the USCIS wants to interview the petitioner and beneficiary prior to approving a petition, so that may cause a delay. However, many petitions are taking anywhere between 6 months to a year to be adjudicated.

Here, you can check the status of your petition as well as the processing times for the petitions.

If you have been waiting an unreasonably long time for the visa petition to be adjudicated, you should consider filing a mandamus action in federal court to compel the USCIS to adjuducate the application.
