Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York

Emergency:Answer ASAP

If you are born in the U.S.A., and have a parent that qualified for a permanent residency in the U.S., and then their residency expired, and have were arrested is it possible to lose their residency that easy without a fight? Also I am a United States citizen born here, and I am wondering if there is any way that I can help especially if the victim is your parent, in order to avoid deportation? I would really appreciate it if you can answer these questions as soon as possible please. Thank You.

Re: Emergency:Answer ASAP

Your parent needs to seek competent immigration counsel ASAP. Anybody who is not a United States citizen who commits certain crimes can be deported. If there is relief available would depend on the specific crime involved, how long they have been a resident and other case specific factors. Impossible to know if you can help from the scant info you have provided.
