Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York

Hi my relative friend. found a wallet and the owner is accusing him that he took it from her and thats nt true. now is like 3 weeks he is in jail. immigration caught him he is indocumented so the told him to sign a shhet which is for aa felony and i wonder what that means for immigration help please

He needs to get a criminal defense lawyer first of all. Also, his relative can consult an immigration lawyer on his behalf. If he is illegally in USA and is convicted of a felony theft, he will be referred to ICE and can be deported. If your friend is in jail and being charged with a felony should they apply to remain in the US in the future immigration will make enquirers and ask the police to provide them with all the necessary information regarding your friend's case.
