Legal Question in Insurance Law in New York

I live in NYS had a minor accident over 2 years ago. Police where at the scene and took info but other person never filed a claim through insurance. There was no damage to my car and it was my fault so I didnt report it to insurance because I had liability. I just got a summons thats says im being sued for a million dollars. Does my insurance still have to provide a lawyer even though no one reported it? Also, I am no longer with that insurance company. I have no money for a lawyer.

Yes, your insurance company, the one who had provided coverage at the time of the accident, should provide an attorney to defend you. Contact the insurance company ASAP and advise them about the summons.
