Did anyone provide you with an explanation regarding the delay in contacting you? Where you the sole beneficiary? Did your dad provide the insurance company with all the correct information regardnig your identity to facilitate contact? Did the insurance company use due diligence in locating you? Who told you about the insurance money? You were obviously not a minor when your dad passed on.

You had better obtain a copy of the insurance contract your father obtained for you as a beneficiary. The company/agent should provide it to you without any question. Just make sure the contract is the authentic contract your father obtained with his signature clearly indicated on the relevant pages. You should review the contract thoroughly to understand the terms and the company's responsibility in case of death.

You may be entitled to more money than the contractual agreement depending on answers to the above questions, a review of the contract and other significant facts and inquiries that necessarily require a response. I will be glad to help you if you can not resolve the matter on your own.
