Is iht.greenpeace.org a valid application of fair use or does it face copyright or trademark concerns?

Don't confuse copyright with trademark law. "Fair use" refers to copyright law, which is not concerned with what you're discussing here. Your concern would be trademark law and I would say that you have a major problem. Wh? Well "greenpeace" is not only "confusing similar" to the Greenpeace organization, its the same thing! To avoid any problems later on, I would suggest you think it through again and come up with something different.
