Legal Question in Intellectual Property in New York

Protecting and Idea for a Website

I'm in the processes of building an all-inclusive website for retail shops and resturants. I will be working with the plaza owner on this. What should I do to protect my idea before I start talking openly about the details in our meetings. What forms to I need and where do I file them? Do I have him sign something? Thank you for your help.

Re: Protecting and Idea for a Website

There are forms of non disclosure agreements that you can use. However, it is generally impossible to totally protect an idea.

In fact, it's not at all possible to protect an idea; protection is readily available for the expression of an idea. As well as the nondisclosure agreement that Mr. Browde correctly suggests, you might consider copyright protection if the website is an original work of authorship (it has to have more creative spark to it than the white pages of a telephone book).
