Legal Question in Intellectual Property in New York

Relisting Coupon Ad Information on our web site

We have a web site dedicated to local online coupons. I want to offer a service where we actually re-list names of stores and their coupon offers, what they are, and where they can be found (name actual publications where they are printed)

While we offer the posting of coupons to our clients for a fee on our site, can we also show where other clients' coupons are found?

Re: Relisting Coupon Ad Information on our web site

Your reference to "clients" in the last line of your query is a bit confusing -- if they're your clients you simply need to get their permission which can be accomplished via your acceptable use/privacy policies/guidelines. If they are third-parties then more research has to be done. Trademark issues and issues involving deep-linking are implicated.

You should discuss these issues with your attorney and have him or her review your acceptable use/privacy guidelines in light of your query. If you don't have an attorney, or these policies in place, feel free to give me a call at 212.366.1324.

Good luck.
