Is there a ''resonable'' time of day to be served? I was served at midnight by someone who is directly connected to the lawsuit. He also video tapped the proccess.

I believe in the theory that giving you the fish won't do nearly as much good for you in the long run as teaching you to fish. Therefore:

Service of process is governed in New York by the CPLR (Civil Practice Law and Rules). Do a GOOGLE search on "New York CPLR" and you will learn more than you never wanted to know about how civil practice works, including service of process.
