Re: 15 year pulled a knife on the police

This is a very serious matter, and you should consult with a lawyer immediately.

A 15 year old can be charged in Family Court or in a Criminal Court.

In Family Court, although he could be incarcerated, it is in a juvenile facility where he could be treated for his problems. The courts take a more lenient attitude in these matters.

In Criminal Court, the purpose is to punish. He could be facing stiff penalties, including incarceration for an extended period of time.

The chances of him "getting off" are not very good, as the police officers will testify against him.

However, if no one was hurt, and he did have mental conditions, the courts - either family or criminal- will be more sympathetic.

I would suggest that you document his mental health problems, what medications he is on, that he went off the medications, and that he is now compliant and taking his medications.

If you would like to discuss these matters further, please feel free to contact me.
