Can an employer offer you a job, send you a letter of employment confirmation and then call you two days later and take the position back?

Re: Employment

There is no easy answer here as it depends on what was in the letter of employment confirmation you received. For example, do you have an employment contract? Did the letter say that your employment was "at will" and could be terminated by you or the employer at any time? Did it contain any wording that would imply you had a job for a given period of time? In addition to what is in the letter, an answer may depend on whether you left another job to take the job you are talking about. If so, did the employer make promises to you to get you to leave and join his/her company? All of these are relevant issues and the answers will determine what action, if any, you can take.
