Legal Question in Employment Law in New York

Non compete question

recently as of a month took a position to call on Drs of different specialties . I have not called on a certain specialty of drs in my non-compete agreement at all. I am interested in taking a job with a different company in the specialty I have not called on. The non-compete is for 1 yr. Being that I just took this position and have not met any of the Drs in this specialty would I be in violation? I would not want to lose my job and be in violation yet I have not met any clients for this specific specialty.

Re: Non compete question

You best have a lawyer look at what you signed. Further you should think of a way to negotiate yourself out of the clause or bring on a presumptive order to stay the clause if you leave, and then see if your lawyer can get you out of it if you believe the old company will come gunning for you.

Good luck.
