Legal Question in Employment Law in New York

I read that you can have legal troubles if you misrepresent your education credentials. In job hunting in NYC I state honestly that I have a Bachelor of Science in Education but have been stating my minor and or major areas of study include sociology and psychology which is untrue. I have only taken a few courses in each area. If lying about degree is libelous does that also include minor and major areas of study.
