Legal Question in Employment Law in New York

sick in workplace

We had a major leak in my workplace. There remains a strong moldy smell in the office and seems to be spreading else where as well. I have not felt well and today when I went to work I had to leave because my asthma started to act up and I felt dizzy and become hoarse. Can my boss fire me? My doctor has written a note stating I do not return until area is tested for mold.

Re: sick in workplace

Make a formal written request for a reasonable ADA accommodation. Start taking personal notes and quietly get the names of witnesses. You may need all of the mentioned information if you boss decides that "you are just too much trouble" and makes up a reason to unlawfully terminate your employment.
