Legal Question in Employment Law in New York

About a week after my termination I went to my company's HR Manager and asked to see my personnel file. I was told I had no right to see it swince I was no longer an employee. Is this true?

That's correct. There is no law in the state of New York that gives a former (or current) employee the right to see his or her personnel file.
