Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New York

I learned that there is a judgement against me for unpaid rent I was evicted and I knew that it was only two months I owed. Now I found out that they went to court and said it was 5 months! I sent them the copies of the statements and now it turns out they owe me money but are refusing to pay. Can they do this or do I have to go back to court and fight for the money?

You have to go to court and open the judgment to fight their claim and sue them for the money they owe you.
