Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New York

I missed a months rent and the landlord told me to be out in a month, I'm need time to save up some money to leave, for 3 bedroom I need about 8 months. Can i file a Order to show cause before my landlord files any notice to evict. New York City. Landlord and tenant law.
