Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New York

rental apartment

My mother, 90 years old just passed, her apartment was a rental, my daughter lived there with her to care for her. My daughter has no where else to go, does she have to vacate? How long can she stay, my mothers lease is up in May 2007.
