Legal Question in Legal Ethics in New York

I was just recently at the dentist and was not feeling well, so I told the dentist I wanted to go home that I had just threw up. His financial secretary had gone outside to ask my friend who was waiting for me in the car if I was high or had taken any drugs. I was furious, I was not high and why did she not come and ask me first. I can understand being concerned, but is there not any level of privacy? I was so hurt and embarrased. I immediately went home and told my mother while crying. I did not look high, nor was. I felt so bad that they would act that way. Is that legal for her to go out of her way, leave the office and go and ask my friend? I am 18 years of age and she had no right to embarrass me and the worst part of it is I was not on anything.
