Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in New York

Hello,

I am curious as to whether I am any kind of case against a doctor in my community.

Here is the quick story.

A doctor had been prescribing me xanax for over 5 years. The drug as well as all benzodiazepines are highly addictive and when I asked to be taken off the drug safely, him as well as the hospital wanted nothing to do with me. However, this doctor, who prescribes this drug as well as any benzo freely, also works a job at an addiction clinic which is kind of like working both sides of the street in my eyes. This man has no conscience. I have managed to get off the drug on my own with a reputable doctor using a taper program, but it has been hell. What am I after? Justice. I am not looking for a huge settlement. Do I have anything?

If you are not addicted anymore and do not have permanent damages than most med mal attorneys would be reticent to handle your case.
