Legal Question in Personal Injury in New York

lawsuit and worried about my home

My son was backing up in a parking lot and although the kid walked into my son's car without looking, and have witnesses, he is suing us for one million dollars because his foot was injured. My policy is only for 100,000. Can I be forced to sell my home?

You should retain an attorney to send your insurance company a letter advising them to settle for the policy limits. Your insurance company may be liable for not negotiating in good faith if they refuse to offer the policy limits and a judgment in excess of the limits is entered against you.
