Legal Question in Personal Injury in New York

personal injury

yesterday i tripped on a sprinkler head , got 3 stiches in my knee and a sprained ankle. the reason i think my landlord is responsible is because about 5 months ago he removed a border from the property and since then the earth has been eroding into te street. this left the sprinkler head 2 inches above the ground yet covered by the uncut grass. do you think i have a claim especially since i will have a nice scar to remember it by?

Re: personal injury

You may have a claim. You should take photos of the sprinkler to show how it was hidden and the earth eroding. Was the accident reported to the landlord? Is this a privately owned building? If its not, there are notice of claim requirements that generally have to be met within 90 days. I handle these type of cases so please feel free to contact me.

Re: personal injury

You have a case, but the value will be determined on a number of factors. I would also take pictures of your injury. Did anybody see the accident? Were you rushed to the hospital? Did you make complaints to your landlord? Did the landlord do the work himself or did he hire a company? Were you aware of the condition? Feel free to contact my office for a free consultation.
