If someone was punched in the face during a fight and wants to sue for damages is there a time frame in which to start proceedings?

Should there be the basis for a "dram shop" claim against the provider of alcohol to the assailant (in other words if this fight occurred at a bar and the bartender provided the assailant who was openly intoxicated, or under the age of 21 with alcohol), the Statute of Limitations likely would be for 3 years from the time of the incident. Of course, the specific facts are important and I would suggest that you absolutely contact an attorney to discuss this further prior to making any decisions regarding the timing of commencing or foregoing a lawsuit.
