Legal Question in Personal Injury in New York

Work Related Injury

My wife 25 y/o {nurse} severely injured her shoulder over 2 1/2 years ago trying to keep a patient from falling on the floor. For her efforts she tore up her shoulder. She followed the hospital's advice and attends regular treatments {which only have temporary affects}

To this she still has limited use of her arm and is constant discomfort and debilitating at times. As a result from this injury both her professional and personal life has been greatly effected. We now have a child on the way and we often wonder how we both will need to modify our careers to suit the needs of both her and our baby. Bottom line, do we have any type of recourse after all of this time?
