mechanic responsibility

after a mechanic checked under the hood of my jeep wrangler. the hood flew up as driving down road-was it his responsibility to ensure the car was in a drivable safe condition

Based on what you told me. If the mechanic was the last person to check under your hood, there is a good chance that he was negligent.
