2 unmarried people buy home ,both names on deed, now splitting up who has ownership?

Both are still owners. Either one must start a partition action or agree to a sale. Consult an attorney.

If both names are on the title, then both people own it. It doesn't matter if they're a couple or not. If one wants to buy the other out, then the selling party will need to deed out to the buying party.
