Animal Feels?

Is it legal for landlord to charge for a cat? In our lease it says animals are not allowed, but she gave us permission to get a cat as long as we get her spayed and pay a $25 per month fee. Is that legal?

Sure. The parties may always agree to amend the lease. The only issue is whether there's a rent-control provision governing your apartment. Otherwise, it's all about what the market will bear.
