Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

bought home in new york, three years ago, seller claimed property had working septic tank and even listed it in listing. year ago, plumbing problems, not only is there a damaged pipe, but no septic tank at all, just a hole in the ground. is the seller and/or real estate agent responsible for this? isn't there some sort of law about disclosing things like this?
