Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

Impel Non-Paying Boyfriend To Move Out

How do I impel my boyfriend to move out of my apartment if he refuses to go? What rights does he have after living with me there for 5 years? He has never been on the lease and has never paid rent. (I think according to New York law he would be a ''roommate.'') If I were to contact an attorney, what type of law does this matter fall under?

You go to landlord - tenant court to evict your boyfriend. Since he is not a party to the lease, nor contributed to rent payments, he should have no rights. I suggest using a local attorney familiar with landlord - tenant matters to assist you.
