Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

I live in NYS. I own 2 homes with my ex. My name is on the deeds but not on the mortgages. We have been togehter for 17 1/2 yrs and have 2 children together. We have parted on bad terms and he is fighting to give me anything. He is willing to turn the mortgage of our old house over to me which is 48,000 and the value of the home is 50,000 if I sign off on our new home worth 200,000 and the mortgage of that is 75,000. At this being done, I will wlak away with absolutly nothing not even equity of our old home which is barling nothing. Please help me. I have a lawyer here in town but he seems to be doing nothing for me.

You should talk with your attorney about your dissatisfaction with his services. If you don't trust his advice, you should retain another attorney. However, at this point, your current attorney knows more about the case than any other person.

If you decide to hire another attorney, you should interview several attorneys to discuss your facts and concerns. After you interview several lawyers, select the one who fits your needs and budget.
