Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

missed rent payments

my tenant missed paying her rent in October 2008, and March of 2009, when approched about the rent she just say's she know. She has made no attempts to pay and is not a nice person to hold a conversation with. What can I do?

Re: missed rent payments

You should start a nonpayment proceeding in landlord tenant court. If she fails to pay after receiving a notice of petition and petition, you may have her evicted.

Re: missed rent payments

Hiring an experienced attorney in the area that understands the NYS Landlord Tenant Law and how to negotiate with the local attorneys is vital. They will be able to assist you in reviewing your particular facts and starting a nonpayment proceeding in City court. If your tenant fails to pay after receiving a notice of petition and petition, you may have her evicted.

Our firm handles these types of issues and would be happy to help. I would need to review the particular facts and see what can be done. Please contact my firm and I would be happy to assist.
