Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

Mobile home ownership

A mobile home was purchased in 1987 by two people. In 1989 one individual moved out and left the mobile home and from then to present has not given any financial support to maintenace and pad rent. The other owner maintained and improved the home. This individual has just passed away, leaving a will with a beneficiary to the trailer that is not the original purchaser. Who owns the mobile home?

Re: Mobile home ownership

The heirs, or the estate of the deceased owner, "owns" nothing, one half, or the whole interest in home.

What interest the estate or heirs "own" or are entitled to receive, depends upon how title was held during the life of both parties.

To wit: "Joint Tenants, " "Joint Tenants/w," "Tenant's in Common," Tenants in Common/w," "Trust," and so forth; are Different title provisions, that have different impact and effect, upon a "surviving purchaser or owner of property"

See a lawyer.

Good luck,
