Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

What process is involved after I issue a letter of demand on a Note and Mortgage that I hold for property in New York that is now 4 months in default. The borrower has not responded to my request to advise me of his situation and his intent to make good on the default.

You would have to commence a foreclosure proceeding. The procedure to commence a foreclosure proceeding is too complicated to be reviewed in a lawguru answer.
