Legal Question in Traffic Law in New York

Hit and run

My fiance is being charged for a hit and run. The lady that was hit fled the scene and my fiance waited in the parking lot close to where it happened for 20 minutes and then went into work. Apparently the lady didnt file a police report till a week later and the police came by 2 weeks after. What could the charges be.

Re: Hit and run

At least one of the charges will be leaving the scene of an accident VTL 600-1a, a violation which carries a maximum of 15 days for a first offence. A second charge will most likely be VTL 605-A(1) failure to report an accident with property damage, which is an unspecified misdemeanor under New York State law, which can bring a maximum of 30 days for a first offense.

There are other charges depending on circumstances and what the complaining witness alleged.

The charges that will be entered against your boyfriend will be serious enough that he should get an attorney.
