Legal Question in Traffic Law in New York

I just received a ticket for disobeying a traffic control sign device in Queens NY. i have not had a ticket in over 20 years. Is there anyway to get this handled in a way that wont add points to my license and raise insurance rates?

There is no plea bargaining in NYC Traffic Court so your only options are to plead guilty or try the case. If you wish to try the case, I recommend you retain an attorney who regularly appears in Queens Traffic Court. I know someone who is always there and has an excellant track record so contact me if you his name and number.

At all NYC traffic violation bureaus there is NO PLEA BARGAINING, therefore the only options are to try the cases and hopefully be vindicated. That being said as a former Traffic Court Judge I can tell you that your chances are not good . The police officers are professional and they know the law and how to testify properly, an unrepresented motorist is at a disadvantage. If you retain an attorney you improve your chances, that does not mean victory, but a competent attorney can identify the police testimonial inconsistencies, if they exist, and point them out to the court.
