Legal Question in Traffic Law in New York

I spun out on some ice and ended up in a ditch. I left the scene and went home to deal with it in the morning. The state police called at 5 am to say my car was towed and I would be ticketed for leaving the scene of an accident. Do I need a lawyer for this or do I just take the ticket and be done with it?

Leaving the scene of an accident in NY where there is property damage only is a violation, not a crime. It carries 3 points, a fine and up to 15 days in jail. Further, it is a bad ticket to have for insurance purposes. We therefore recommend that you consult with (if not retain) an experienced traffic lawyer. Feel free to call us or email us at [email protected] to discuss further.

From your statement you may have a valid defense to wit: you just went off the road, if you did not strike anything then there was no property damage. Please contact my office @ 7188340087 so that we can discuss this further. There is no charge for a phone consultation.
