Legal Question in Traffic Law in New York

Unlawful operation of motor vehicle in park without permission, what to plea?

I got summons to appear in court in the city of New York for Unlawful operation of motor vehicle in park without permission.

The summons is dated 5th March. Now I dont know how to approach this.

What should I plea?

Can I postpone/prepone the Summons date?

Can I leave the country and return before the summons date?

You are charged with a violation. You should plead not guilty if you want to fight it, and guilty if you do not. You don't have to get a lawyer, but a good lawyer will give you proper advice and steer your thinking toward how you want to proceed.

You can leave the country, just be sure to answer the ticket. If the court date is on a day you can't make it, you should send the court a letter with a copy of your ticket or a letter explaining why you cannot be there. Then on the day of the case, see if someone can go for you to get your new date (unless you get one in the mail first). A lawyer will take care of that for you if you retain one.

On a scale of 1-10 this is not even on the scale. It is rather inconsequential as long as you don't ignore it.

Good Luck.
