Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

I had asked a question about the joint/survivor account that my Dad and I have. I was told that to insure my children receive this account should I die before my father, that my children should be named beneficiaries. If they are listed as beneficiaries of this account, will this supercede what is written in the will?

A beneficiary designation will assure (subject to certain caveats that your posting does not permit me to evaluate) that the account passes outside of the probate estate. Thus, strictly speaking, the answer to your question is "yes."

Good luck to you.

but it will not prevent your Dad from access to the entire account on your death.
