beneficiary of pension plan

would the pension plan of a deceased person become part of the deceased estate, even if his wife was not the beneficiary.

Should the beneficiary be notified

even if it did go to the estate.

At best, your question is confusing. The pension plan benefit is payable to the beneficiary named in the beneficiary designation form. If there is no named beneficiary, the default beneficiary designated in the plan receives the benefit. If there is no default beneficiary, then the benefit is payable to the estate of the deceased. In all events, the named beneficiary is to be notified.
