Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

claim to estate

I am following article 18 for putting in a claim against an estate. I received a deniel to pay the claim from the executor, now I have 8 days to file an objection. Do I need a special form or can I write a letter and send my documentation to the surrogate court now? Will the judge read the claim? I was paid for a service by the deceased, after the person died the exectutor stopped payment on the check. My proof is the check. Is this worth pursueing? The payment is for 8,000.00.

Re: claim to estate

This must be done by a formal complaint filed with the Superior Court, Probate Division. When filed with the Court Clerk I suggest sending a copy directly to the judge when the original is filed with the Clerk.
