Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

Claiming Family Inheritance

There is much to say about this but in short... My greatgrandfather was the eldest son of a family that ownd emerald mines in Columbia. He left Columbia before his parents passed on because he married an Indian woman. He was

never disinherited but he passed away never going back to Columbia. He knew what he was entitled to and one of his daughters tried to go back in the 80's to see that family. Of course they still own the mines and obviously did not offer anything to her. I am writing on behalf of my family in America as to what is necessary to claim what is rightfully ours. I don't know Columbian law but we are obviously talking about a considerable amount of inheritance. Thank you for your time.

Re: Claiming Family Inheritance

My advice is to get in touch with an attorney in Columbia who specializes in wills and probate and see if they can find if your great-greatgrandparents left a will to determine if your greatgradfather was left something or was, indeed, disinherited.
