Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

deposition and appeal of fathers estate!!!

Yes my fathers estate in new york has just been thru deposition and me the only surviving child was named as sole heir to his esate but his sister my aunt contested his estate and held it up in court for a year and the judge ruled all in my favor saying I deserve everything. But his sister might appeal it and hold it up even longer. My father owned multiple appartment buildings, car dealerships, computer stores, and a mansion in the nyc/manhattan area. His sister claims she gave him money to start out but has no proof at all so she claims since she did that she deserves everything. But my lawyers going to talk with her lawyers next week about sharing the money to see if we could come to a agreement. I was wondering if she does appeal it how much longer could this take and how many times can she appeal it. Also if she does go with sharing the money how much longer after deopsition should it take to receive the money. Its going on 2 years since my father passed away and my aunt is a 75 year old greedy millionare who is just giving me a hard time. If you could anwser this it would be great!!

Re: deposition and appeal of fathers estate!!!

Appeals can take many months going into a year+.

If you can stick it out I wouldn't give her a dime. Good luck.

Since you have a lawyer I am puzzled as to why you wouldn't ask them the same questions. They know the facts of your particular case better than anyone. They work for you so don't be afraid to ask questions.
