Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

Employment check pd after death

I have always cut payroll checks for wages paid after the date of death made out to ''The estate of...'' Can you tell me where I can find out if this is a requirement or can the check simply be made out in the deceased employee's name?

Re: Employment check pd after death

Since they are wages, correct way should be in the name of the decedent, especially if they cover periods prior to DD, but check is cut after DD. If actually for a period after DD, please explain why this would be "wages", not something else? In this case, check payable to the estate seems correct. Clearer facts are necessary for a complete reply.
