The executors take the necessary steps to carry out the provisions of the testator's will. One may have more than one executor although it is generally not, in my view, a good idea. If there are two executors, there will be a double executor's commission and there may be complications by the fact that signatures of both executors may be required in order to take any of a variety of steps. While the commission schematic changes when there are more than two executors, it nonetheless is not usually wise.

It is worthy of consideration that in most cases, as a practical matter, the most important job of the executor is to hire counsel and to meet and confer with the estate's attorney.

Good luck to you.
