can the grantor of a power of attorney have been diagnosed with senile dementia or alzheimers?

Re: grantor of power of attorney

A person must be competent at the time that he or she executes a power of attorney. Unless the document provides otherwise, the later incompetency of the person will cause a revocation of the power.
