Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

My husband's will was done in January 2011 when my name was not on the bank accounts and I was not named the beneficiary in his insurance. In this will he shared everything in equal shares between his brother and myself. Later on in 2011 he included my name as joint holder in his bank account and I changed place my name as beneficiary. After the change in died January 2012. My question is whether the proceeds would be shared equally as stated in the will.

Joint accounts pass to the survivor at death. They are not part of the estate distributed under the will. The same applies to the life insurance proceeds. They go to the named beneficiary. Other assets would pass through the will. However, you may be entitled to more than the half left to you by the Will if you file your right of election. Contact me if you need more details.
