John died, leaving all his money to his wife, Maggie, who survived him. If she had pre-deceased him, all his money was to go to John's nephew Fred.
Maggie died shortly after John died, but before John's will was probated and before any assets were distributed. Her will stipulated that all of her money be given to her niece, Ellen.
