Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

Medical Records for Deceased Father

How do I get copies of medical records of my father who died in 1968? I was told I need a letter of administration or testamentary. Can I do this without a lawyer? Can I look at the records without getting copies? My mother is still alive.

Re: Medical Records for Deceased Father

Your mom can get the records.

You have to establish your entitlement to them.

You probably are not named as the executor of the will and would not be the administrator of the estate.
