pension beneficiary

My ex passed away in April. His widow angrily said I was beneficiary on his pension. I have not received any notification. When I called they said ''a letter would have been sent 10 to 15 days after they were notified of his death. What can I do to find out what is going on.

Thing don't ring true here. If the plan is a qualified ERISA plan, then the surviving spouse is the beneficiary by operation of law, regardless of the beneficiary designation. In the separation from your ex, you may have entered into a qualified domestic relations order which gave you an interest in the benefit. Maybe it would be wise to check with your lawyer.
